Leybold ECODRY 40 plus Dry Multistage Roots Vacuum Pump
The ECODRY 40 plus is an air-cooled dry multistage Roots pump for clean-gas laboratory vacuum, analytical equipment and turbomolecular backing. Maximum air pumping speed is 40 m³/h without gas ballast, with an ultimate pressure below 0.03 mbar under the same gas-ballast condition.
Leybold ECODRY 40/65 plus manufacturer range photograph; standard gas-ballast version shown. The 65 He plus has a different gas-ballast arrangement.

Choose the 40 plus where a DN25 inlet and 40 m³/h air capacity meet the duty. For more capacity, the 65 plus increases air speed to 55 m³/h and uses a DN40 inlet.

Pressure and speed refer to the pump, not guaranteed chamber performance. The 40/65 platform has different pressure, connection and electrical ratings from ECODRY 25/35 plus.
UK supply and included equipment
For a UK 230 V installation, specify the 200–240 V version. The mains cable is ordered separately: Leybold lists 161810UK, BS1363 to IEC C19, 2 m. The pump has an IEC C20 inlet; confirm circuit protection and the selected nameplate rating.
The manual lists two centring rings, two clamping rings, two blank flanges and the D-sub 9-pin bridge connector for manual operation in the supplied equipment. Interface cables, inlet screens and mounting accessories require separate selection.
Gas handling and control
The standard 40/65 plus pumps suit clean, dry, particle-free gases and water vapour within their gas-ballast limits. Give the full gas composition before selecting a pump for solvents or aggressive gases. Gas ballast improves vapour handling but raises ultimate pressure.
Local start/stop, the X1 control interface and the X104 RS485 interface support equipment integration. Specify the intended control method and cables. The dry pumping chamber has no process oil; bearings and gears use PFPE lubrication.
The manual excludes short-cycle pumping with high repetition rates. Above 2000 m installation altitude, inlet pressure should not permanently exceed 50 mbar. Allow unobstructed cooling airflow and service access.
Documented configuration examples
These references identify specific builds for an enquiry. This model-level listing has no single manufacturer part number; confirm the selected build and current availability with Girovac.

For turbo backing, compare the TURBOVAC i / iX range. A standalone backing pump does not imply compatibility with a preconfigured TURBOLAB station.
For an ECODRY 40 plus quotation, send chamber volume, target pressure, gas and vapour composition, continuous throughput, pump-down time, cycle frequency, inlet and exhaust connections, electrical supply and quantity. Include control, filtration and installation-space requirements. Girovac will confirm the configuration, included equipment, price and delivery.
Confirm the exact version, electrical supply and connections. Ask whether oil, filters, fittings, cables or controllers are included or separately specified.
Availability, lead time and the applicable warranty are confirmed for your quotation. A catalogue listing does not reserve stock.
