Choosing the NEO D 40

The NEO D 40 is a two-stage oil-sealed rotary vane pump with integrated exhaust oil-mist filtration for laboratory and industrial roughing and backing. Actual pumping speed is 40 m³/h at 50 Hz or 48 m³/h at 60 Hz. Select the motor, oil and gas-ballast arrangement for the process and the available supply.

The D 40 moves to DN40 connections and a 3-litre oil capacity. Actual speed is 40 m³/h at 50 Hz, distinct from the 47 m³/h nominal displacement. Single-phase and three-phase motor options require separate selection.

Key specifications

Speed and pressure figures follow the manual’s DIN 28400 conditions for standard variants with the recommended oil and standard gas ballast. Nominal displacement differs from actual pumping speed. Achieved chamber pressure depends on gas load, conductance, oil condition and configuration.

Motor, oil and UK installation

For UK 230 V single-phase duty, select the single-phase version and confirm the supplied cable, connector and circuit rating. The D 16/25 use an IEC C14 inlet and the D 40 uses IEC C20 in the listed single-phase builds. The three-phase world-motor version supports UK 400 V, 50 Hz operation when correctly connected. Motor protection and wiring must match the nameplate.

The standard order codes below specify LVO702 oil in manual C7. Other oil builds have different suffixes; use the lubricant specified for the supplied pump and process. Standard three-position, permanent and electromagnetic gas-ballast arrangements are not interchangeable order selections.

Integrated filtration and accessories

The NEO D combines oil-sealed compression with integrated exhaust mist separation and oil return. This reduces external filter plumbing, but it does not remove oil-service requirements or make hazardous exhaust safe to release into the room. Route exhaust for the actual gas and maintain the filter and oil return according to the manual.

Oil-level, temperature and exhaust-filter monitoring accessories are selected separately. A controller or sensor shown in application material is not automatically included. Confirm sensors, cables, inlet protection and any vacuum isolation valve on the quotation.

Pressure and vapour handling

Gas ballast improves handling of suitable condensable vapours but raises ultimate pressure. Provide the full gas composition and vapour load before selecting oil or accessories. The integrated anti-suckback valve is not a safety isolation device; an application requiring assured vacuum isolation needs a separate assessment.
