Choosing the TRIVAC D 40 L Two-Stage Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump

The TRIVAC D 40 L is a two-stage, oil-sealed rotary vane pump for roughing and suitable high-vacuum backing duties in research and industry. Its actual pumping speed is 42 m³/h at 50 Hz or 50 m³/h at 60 Hz. Choose it where an oil-sealed arrangement suits the process and the installation can accommodate the required three-phase motor, exhaust routing and routine oil service.

The D 40 L is the smallest of these three TRIVAC L models. Its 42 m³/h actual speed at 50 Hz should be used for initial selection, rather than its 49 m³/h nominal displacement.

Key specifications

Pumping-speed and pressure values follow the manual’s DIN 28400 conditions with standard gas ballast. Nominal speed is distinct from actual pumping speed. Chamber conductance, gas load, oil condition and accessories affect achieved pressure.

Motor selection and UK installation

For a UK industrial 400 V, 50 Hz supply, specify the matching three-phase motor and connection. The manual also lists EU/US IE4 and JP/KR motor options; voltages and rated powers vary by order code. This is not a standard UK single-phase plug-in pump. Confirm the nameplate, motor protection, connection and direction of rotation during installation.

Oil, gas ballast and supplied equipment

The standard factory-filled pump uses LEYBONOL LVO 130 mineral oil. The manual lists the pump with motor, a DN40 centring ring, a DN40 centring ring with dirt trap and two clamping rings in the supplied equipment. Confirm the selected build and any special lubricant requirement on the quotation.

Gas ballast helps manage suitable condensable vapours but increases ultimate pressure. Give the vapour type, load and cycle when selecting the pump. Plan access for oil-level checks, changes and exhaust maintenance, and use the manufacturer’s oil and maintenance guidance.

Optional exhaust and control equipment

Specify an oil-mist filter, oil-return arrangement or electromagnetic gas-ballast valve if the process needs them. These are accessories, not assumed standard equipment. An oil-return arrangement changes the stated ultimate-pressure conditions: the manual lists 0.009 mbar with the oil-return kits connected.
