Chemical-resistant diaphragm pumping for laboratory processes
The Edwards D-LAB 34-8 is a two-head diaphragm vacuum pump for duties such as rotary evaporation, gas transfer and laboratory drying where the required pressure is compatible with an 8 mbar ultimate rating. Its published 50 Hz pumping speed is 2 m³/h (34 l/min). Select against the flow required at the process pressure, not just the free-air figure.

Wetted materials and process protection
Edwards specifies Teflon/PTFE heads and diaphragms with Kalrez valves for improved chemical resistance. Compatibility still depends on the individual gases, vapours, concentrations and temperatures. Specify inlet separation or condensation where required and arrange a suitable exhaust route. Maximum permitted inlet pressure is 1 bar absolute and the published enclosure protection is IP44.
The datasheet’s hazardous-atmosphere marking applies to the internal atmosphere only. Do not infer external hazardous-area suitability. Any flammable or hazardous process must be assessed against the exact equipment certification and installation requirements.
UK supply, options and spares
The documented 220–240 V, 50 Hz single-phase ordering reference is A48022960. Other electrical versions are listed separately; confirm the exact voltage and frequency before ordering. The UK 2 m mains cable is listed separately as A50505000. The model-specific maintenance kit is A48022815; confirm serial-number applicability before purchase.
Inlet separator A48015136 and exhaust condenser A48015137 are listed accessories, not assumed inclusions. Ask Girovac to confirm the base plate, gas-ballast option and fittings for your model and duty.
