Compact dry vacuum for clean laboratory duties
Edwards XDD1 is an oil-free diaphragm pump for non-aggressive gases in safe-area applications. It can serve a suitable small laboratory duty or back a compatible compound turbomolecular pump. Its own typical ultimate pressure is below 2 mbar; the much lower pressure obtainable with a turbo stage is a complete-system result.

AC and DC versions
The AC Mk2 version (published reference A74602983) is listed for 100–115 V at 50/60 Hz, 120 V at 60 Hz and 220–230 V at 50/60 Hz. The UK mains selection therefore needs the 220–230 V configuration checked on the nameplate. Published motor power is 80 W and mass 7.3 kg.
The Mk3 DC version (A74603991) uses 24 V DC. At the factory setting of 1700 rpm its published speed is 1.4 m³/h; at 600 rpm it is 0.6 m³/h and at 2400 rpm it is 1.8 m³/h. Published motor power is 64 W and mass 4.5 kg. Confirm the power supply, controller, cable and required operating speed. AC and DC are configuration choices, not interchangeable electrical connections.
Connections, cables and servicing
The inlet is NW16. The exhaust silencer can be removed to connect an exhaust line using a 1/8-inch BSP fitting. Maximum permitted inlet pressure is 1 bar absolute. Check the exhaust route and process compatibility before installation.
The manufacturer lists a separately specified 2 m UK mains cable with 3 A plug, A50516000, and diaphragm service kit A74601800. Confirm the supplied scope and kit compatibility against the exact pump version. For more aggressive gases, discuss the D-LAB range and process protection rather than assuming XDD1 compatibility.
