Specifying a complete vacuum system
A packaged system brings together pumps and supporting equipment for a defined duty. Start with the process and demand profile, then agree capacity, controls and installation requirements. For a central system serving several users, include simultaneous demand and what should happen if a pump is unavailable.
Frequently asked questions
What is included in a packaged vacuum system?
The contents depend on the model and configuration. Confirm pumps, receiver, controls, filtration, valves and connections in the quotation. Do not assume every pictured component or installation accessory is included.
How do I size a central vacuum system?
List the connected users, their required pressure and flow, and which operate at the same time. Include peak demand, operating hours and future expansion. Existing pipework and the required continuity of supply also affect the system specification.
Can an existing vacuum system be expanded?
Possibly, after checking the pumps, receiver, controls, pipework and available services. Explain the additional demand and provide details of the current installation. Adding another pump without reviewing the system may not resolve the limiting factor.
Are industrial, composite and medical systems interchangeable?
No. Each application has its own process and installation requirements. Choose the relevant system category and provide the project specification. In particular, a medical installation needs assessment against its applicable requirements, not just a comparison of pump capacity.
