Choosing oils, greases and vacuum fluids
Identify the pump or component first, then match the manufacturer’s lubricant specification to the operating conditions. Our guides separate vacuum pump oils, sealing greases and diffusion pump fluids so you can compare the right kind of consumable. Send the current product reference when asking about a replacement.
Frequently asked questions
Are vacuum pump oil and vacuum grease interchangeable?
No. They serve different duties. Use the oil specified for the pump’s lubrication or sealing system and the grease or sealing compound specified for the relevant component. A product described as suitable for vacuum is not suitable for every vacuum application.
How do I find a replacement for an older lubricant?
Send the exact product name, grade and manufacturer, together with the pump model and application. A label photograph or old datasheet can help. Any proposed alternative needs checking against the equipment requirements rather than selected by name similarity.
Can I mix different vacuum pump oils?
Do not assume they can be mixed. Confirm compatibility and the manufacturer’s changeover procedure before switching products. The base fluid, additives, seals and process all need consideration; matching viscosity alone is insufficient.
Where can I compare vacuum oils and greases?
Use the linked guides for vacuum pump oils, vacuum greases and diffusion pump fluids. They cover different product families and uses. Contact us with the pump model, existing lubricant reference and required quantity to discuss supply.
