Both pumps use rotary vanes, but that does not make them interchangeable. The DVP SC 60 is a dry-running pump for a shallower vacuum. The LC 106 uses oil lubrication and reaches a much lower absolute pressure. For a buyer, the first question is which pressure the machine actually needs while it is working.
Put the pressure requirement in absolute units
| Detail | SC 60 | LC 106 |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | Dry rotary vane | Oil-lubricated rotary vane |
| Nominal speed at 50 Hz | 60 m³/h | 106 m³/h |
| Ultimate pressure | 150 mbar absolute | 0.1 mbar absolute, gas ballast closed |
Lower absolute pressure means deeper vacuum. If a process requires 20 mbar absolute, the SC 60’s published 150 mbar ultimate pressure rules it out before you compare flow or purchase price. Conversely, a process working at a much higher pressure does not automatically benefit from the LC 106’s deeper ultimate vacuum.
Check the operating range
The LC 106 listing identifies a continuous-duty range of 400 to 0.1 mbar absolute. Its ability to evacuate a system initially does not mean it should be selected for indefinite operation at any inlet pressure. Compare the normal duty, start-up and abnormal operating conditions with the manufacturer’s limits.
For the SC 60, describe the leakage and working pressure of the application. Holding a porous workpiece, for example, is different from evacuating a sealed vessel. Use the pumping-speed curve to check capacity where the machine operates.
Allow for the different maintenance needs
A dry vane pump avoids a sealing-oil service routine, but vanes and inlet protection still need attention. An oil-lubricated pump adds oil condition and exhaust separation to the maintenance plan. Neither technology should be treated as maintenance-free.
Dust, moisture and liquid carryover should be described before ordering. Process protection belongs in the equipment selection, rather than being added only after contamination reaches the pump.
Compare a complete installation cost
Ask for the electrical version, inlet fittings, protection and exhaust arrangement to be identified. Include available service space and the hours the pump will run. These details produce a more useful comparison than the pump price alone.
If a machine already has a pump, send its nameplate and the pressure measured during normal production. Mention any changes to the material, cycle time or number of stations. A replacement is an opportunity to check the duty, especially when the machine has evolved since its first installation.
